The Teaser was cool, yet oddly disturbing. And somewhat oogie. W&H are apparently making modified guns for some dude & Wes is the seller. Blah blah blah with the tough guy business talk. Fred comes out to explain how the weapon works, then all of a sudden this hook goes right into one of the bad guys head. Wes goes all Robert Rodriguez with the gun action.. then there's a ninja?? What the Hell. The Ninja wraps a chain around Gun-Buying-Dude's neck and sadly the death doesn't happen off screen. Big ol' crack and I "oogied" out loud. Of course Angel bursts in to save the day. Not sure why he doesn't just walk into a room, but he always bust through a window. But anyway. He kills the Ninja, who is.... a robot??? Then we find out Fred was shot, bleeding pretty bad & fade to credits.

Act 1.

Wes is getting his ass chewed by Angel for putting Fred in danger. And of course he feel 200% horrible because he's in love with our lovely Winifred. And holy fuck there's Eve. Again. Damn I hate her. There's more of the blah-blah-blah with Eve doing the shinking on Angel, suggesting he still holds a grudge about Wes taking Connor.

Wes has moved on to talk to Fred. She's a-ok & actually kinda chipper for being shot. Kind of some predictable wording when Wes's dad shows up. And what an Ass-hole of a Dad he is. You know those parents who are always making snide comments about their kid's "failures". Yep, that's Daddy Wyndam-Price. He gives Wes some BS about how the surviving members of the Watchers Council are going to re-from & Daddy W-P is there to evaluate Wes. Wes says right away "no thanks." and explains how the work he does is good. And serious. Que Lorne to walk by making one of his movie-phone calls. Little obvious.

Cut to Fred's lab where she's checking out Dead Ninja Robot guy, who apparently is a hybrid of human and machine. Spike's homage to his past: "Sex with robots is more common than people think." Yay for Spike. But why the hell is Eve there (again) and why is she glaring and Spike's every move?

Wes comes in with Daddy W-P & of course Dad recogonizes Spike right away:

D W-P: {with disgust}: Spike!

S: {kinda happy} You've heard of me?

D W-P: {very British}: No, we've met. 1963, my collegues and I fell upon you slaughtering an orpahanage in Vienna. You killed 2 of my men before you escaped.

S: {surpise-mixed with a tinge of horror. and pause....} How've you been?

Best moment of the whole show, hands down.

Then Daddy W-P is a jerk to Angel, yet Wes still tries to impress Dad by reading the writing on the dead guys intestines. And my I just pause here to say Oogie! Of course poor sad Wes sets off a timer on a bomb.

Geez. Long Act.

Act 2:

And just as much of an of-course, Daddy W-P is able to deactivate the bomb and show all that Wes mis translated the entrails. (oogie) We see Wes back in Angel's office admitting he messed up. Again. And Spike's having way too much fun with the Head Boy thing.

So, to follow-up the mess-up, Wes takes his dad to the room that holds all the books on prophecy. Dad makes a comment on how un-safe it is to have these books out in the open. Color me non-shocked when the ninja robot dude comes through the door and heads straight for the books.

In the first real plot twist of the show, after Wes kills Ninja Robot guy, his dad conks him on the head & goes & steals something out of a lock box. Then he radio's someone to say Phase One Compelete. So it looks like Daddy's an Asshole and a Bad Guy.

Somewhere inter-cut with the Wes and his Dad saga was an odd elevator scene with Eve and Spike. Seems he noticed that he was getting noticed. I think this conversation is one to file away for a future episode.

Act 3:

The Act starts off with a big fight scene for the guys. And apparently Wes is no slouch in the torture department. The fight's over & Daddy W-P is tricking Angel into going up to the roof with him. Second best moment is also from Spike:

S: Oh! Eve's stuck in the elevator!"

Gunn: so tell maintiance.

S: Right! {pause} Where in the bloody hell is maint.... oh to be honest I don't even care.

Man I love Spike :-)

So Dad W-P gets Angel up on the roof & pulls out whatever the stick thing is that he stole. He says some abracadabra & it's a light show coming from Angel into the stick. End Act 3.

Side note - the KOL commerical with Brenden Fraiser is good. He's a hottie.

Act 4:

The oddly distrubing from earlier gets surpassed like nobody's business. Wes comes out onto the roof, gun pulled & pointed at Daddy. Apparently the stick has sucked Angel's will from him. There's more back and forth between Wes and his dad & but Wes manages to get the stick. Dad says "you know I'll kill you for it" Wes says "fine. I figure if I drop it, the crystal shatters & Angel's will is returned." So again with the predictable, Daddy W-P goes for Fred. So what does Wes do? He shoots his Dad. I mean he shoots the Hell out of him. Like 10 times!

Then it's all silence. Wes walks away, digusted with himself & throws up (thankfully away from the camera). When he turns back, there's a snap, crackle and pop. Turns out Daddy Wyndam-Price was a robot too, just with a wicked-ass glamor.

Coda:

Wes comes to talk to Angel. Wes feels like he really did kill his dad. So what does Angel say to cheer him up? "You know, I killed my actual dad. That was one of the first things I did when I became a vampire." Wes: "I hardly see how that's the same situation...." Angel: "Yeah, I didn't really think that one through."

Even better, Spike's waiting to cheer Wes up too. Spike: "I don't know if you know this, but I killed my mum. Actually, I'd already killed her & she tried to shag me so I had to um..." {makes the stake-a-vampire-motion} Wes: {in the too-much-information-voice}: "Thank you! I'm... very comforted...." Tres Funny.

When Fred walks in to talk to Wes he stops her before she can say anything & says "if you're here to tell me how you killed your parents, can we save it for another day?" Sad, yet funny. Sad, but not funny, Wes pretty much spills the beans about being in love with Fred. She's shocked but before she can react, here comes Knoxie to take her home. Stupid Knoxie.
